Former professor of contemporary history at the University of Turin, is currently the director of the magazine of science and history “Prometeo”. He edited the six volumes of Storia dell’economia mondiale (Roma-Bari, Laterza 1996-2001). Among his most recent publications, Che cosa ci attende in un mondo che cambia (Torino, Einaudi 2000); and L’eredità del Novecento. e L’avventura dell’unità europea. Una sfida con la storia e il futuro (Einaudi 2004).
Between 1976 and 1998 he has been contributing to the cultural pages of the newspaper “la Repubblica”, and he is currently contributing to “Il Sole – 24 ore”.
