Head of Group Archives of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc since 1988 Alison graduated in history from the University of Cambridge, and qualified in archive studies at University of London. She has held a number of posts in corporate archives in the UK, including Archivist of House of Fraser 1978-83; Secretary-General of the Business Archives Council 1983-87; and Archivist & Records Manager of Babcock International 1987-88.
Alison has authored or co-authored several business histories and archive publications and she is currently editing an international handbook on managing business archives (forthcoming, 2007).
Alison chairs the Business Records Group of the Society of Archivists, the professional body of British archivists, and represents the UK on the Section on Business & Labour Archives of the International Council on Archives.
