Charter member of the Italian Society for the industrial archaeology (Siai) and of Aipai (Italian Association for the industrial heritage), he wrote several books, essays and articles in Italy and abroad. He represented Italy within The International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage (TICCIH); he is currently the director of the European Museum Forum (EMF).
He is a member of many scientific Committees (among which the Museum of Industry and Work in Brescia, the Museum of the Child and the Toy in Milan and the steering committee of the "Refettorio delle Stelline" gallery of the Credito valtellinese in Milan). He was a member of the executive board of the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan during the years 1997-2000, and a member of the committee for the Diocesan Museum of Milan in 1995-96. In 1989 he founded Kriterion Consulting srl, a consulting firm within museums and industrial archaeology.
