Ordinary professor of economic history at Pisa University, he is the author of many financial and historical essays. He taught at Trieste and Pisa University where he was the director of the Department of Economic Science, Dean of the Economy Faculty from 1996 to 2000 and pro-rector for the relation with the territory.
He has been the coordinator and the scientific responsible of the project for the realization of the Piaggio Historical Archives, the Museum and Piaggio Foundation since its birth. Since 1998 he has been the chairman of the Piaggio Foundation.
