Lara Piccardo has PhD in Europe, Federalism and European Union History and she runs the Jean Monnnet module in History of the European Parties and of the Movements for European Union at Genoa University, Faculty of Political Sciences. In addition to many essays in Italian and in English on URSS/Russia and communitarian integration, she published a monographic volume on L'Europa del nuovo millennio. Storia del quinto ampliamento (1989-2007) (Bologna, CLUEB, 2007) and the working paper I progetti "europei" dell'URSS nella seconda guerra mondiale (1941-1944) (Pavia, AUSE, 2004). She edited the volumes Un'università che cambia in un mondo che cambia: nuove prospettive di ricerca (Milan, Ediplan, 2008) and L'Idée d'Europe au XVIIIe siècle – The Idea of Europe in the 18th Century (Paris, Champion, 2009).
